CAFCC: Rivers United pip Ghana’s Dreams FC to reach quarters
Rivers United reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup after earning a tough 2-1 win against Ghana’s Dreams FC in Uyo on Sunday.
Despite the hosts starting the game on a strong foot, it was Dreams FC that netted the opener through Abdul Aziz Issah five minutes before the break.
Rivers United fought back, with Deputy Echeta equalising a minute after the hour mark.
Substitute Kazie Godswill netted the winning goal for Rivers United with the last kick of the game.
The former NPFL champs finished Group C in second position with 12 points from six games.
Dreams FC top the standings with same number of points but enjoyed a better goal difference.
