Carabao Cup: West Ham sack Man City on penalties

Holders Manchester City were sacked from the Carabao Cup on Wednesday thus ending  their four-year reign as champions is over!

City have made the trophy their own in recent seasons but have lost their first game in the competition in five years and a day as they lost to West Ham on penalties.

Despite having all the possession, City couldn’t find a breakthrough in a 90 minutes that had little to get excited about.

Alphonse Areola was the busier of the two goalkeepers as he made seven saves but Zack Steffen had to be quick on his feet on a number of occasions as West Ham created their own chances.

The Blues looked to have won it at the death when Raheem Sterling had a free header but he fluffed his lines to send the game to penalties.
