Celta Vigo coach denies resignation welcomes Carles Perez

Celta Vigo coach Eduardo Coudet has denied he considered resigning over the summer.

It was claimed Coudet was ready to walk away over a lack of signings.

But he said today: “We went to the United States with eight professional players. I grabbed the captains and told them: if 20 arrive, great, and if no one arrives, I’m here with you. I feel that my players throw themselves headlong for me and for a coach there is nothing more beautiful.

“I feel like I had to create a compromise. There was a nervousness, it is not easy to start 15-20 days with twelve players in the preseason. For the players with the most experience, it’s hard, but the predisposition was always total. When I saw some nervousness, I had to grab them and let them know that we are all committed. Luckily, players have arrived.”

Carles Perez has joined from Roma and Coudet continued: “He’s fine, but he arrived three or four days ago. I don’t think he’s for 90 minutes. I look forward to it. Rarely have I seen a player exert so much force to get to a place. We were the first option, the players who have arrived wanted to come here.”

Coudet also spoke of Denis Suarez and his row with the Celta board.

He added: “It is a situation that we knew from the previous one that these circumstances could arise. He is a boy that I love very much and he is living a different situation. Only the club and he can solve it.”
