Champions League: Aluko backs Chelsea ladies to triumph

After clinching the Women’s Super League following 5-0 defeat of Reading, Nigeria born former England international Eni Aluko is backing Chelsea ladies to making it a double with Champions league title.

Chelsea ladies are set for mother of all wars against Barclona on Sunday in the Womens Champions league and Aluko believes his former club stands a better chance of clinching the title for the first time.

Chelsea ladies claimed their fourth Super league title the most a club has ever won in the competition but desire for the Champions league title is said to be burning in the heart of the ladies who will not doubt be facing  hard nut to crack against their equally determined Barcelona counterparts.

Eni Aluko says “relentless winners” Chelsea are the best team in the world, after Emma Hayes’ side secured the Women’s Super League title over the weekend.

Capping an incredible season with a 5-0 victory over Reading at Kingsmeadow, Chelsea claimed their second successive title, the latest seeing them overtake Arsenal for the highest number of wins in the league with four.

Hayes’ side also secured the Women’s League Cup earlier this season, and on Sunday they take on Barcelona in their first Women’s Champions League final.

“It’s definitely the best team in the world right now,” Aluko told Sky Sports News. “They’re going to have to prove that obviously on Sunday against Barcelona in the Champions League final.

“My heart is blue. I love that team, I love the journey that they’ve been on. They’re just relentless winners – Emma Hayes has driven that team.”
