Chelsea appoint Chris Jurasek as chief executive officer

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Chris Jurasek as the club’s new chief executive.

In a corresponding move, Tom Glick, who was appointed as the club’s president of business in July 2022, has stepped down.

Jurasek has been working as an operating executive for Clearlake Capital — the US private equity firm that now co-owns Chelsea alongside a consortium of investors including Todd Boehly.

Jurasek was also chief executive of a business funded by the California-based private equity firm and had already attended some business meetings in view of taking the position at the west London club, where he will now aid Boehly in overseeing proceedings.

Jurasek said: “I’m delighted to be joining Chelsea, a club which is loved and followed all over the world. I’m enormously proud to be leading it into the next chapter in its rich history.

“We have huge opportunities to grow on and off the pitch and to engage our exceptional fans both in London and wherever they are supporting us from.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with our owners, leadership and everyone around the club.”

Chairman Todd Boehly and owners Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss said: “Chris is an outstanding executive who will add significant value to Chelsea.

“A collaborative and senior leader with experience across a diverse range of companies, Chris is a fantastic addition to our team.”

Glick previously worked at New York City FC and the City Football Group and was chief executive at Derby County in the 2000s but has left his role “to pursue other opportunities”.

Glick’s handling of a complaint of sexual harassment from agent Catalina Kim against commercial director Damian Willoughby — who was sacked in September — saw external lawyers called in to investigate.

Once Glick became aware of the “severity” of Kim’s allegations, the matter “was immediately escalated for review” and the club “took decisive action”, they said in a statement.

“We’d like to thank Tom for all his efforts and support to us during the first year of our ownership and helping Chelsea position the club for future success,” the club said on Tuesday.

Chelsea endured a hugely disappointing season finishing 12th in the Premier League, 27 points off the Champions League qualification places.
