Chelsea celebrate Abraham after claiming prestigious awards
Chelsea took to the social media to celebrate Nigerian-born forward Tammy Abraham after he earned double honours at the London Football Awards, claiming the Premier League Player of Year and Young Player of Year at a star-studded bash in Camden.
A host of figures from the game attended the event including David Seaman, Ashley Cole and Carlton Cole as players and organisations from across the region were recognised for their achievements.
Interestingly, while Chelsea striker Abraham, 22, took the headline awards, Ben Foster of Watford was named Goalkeeper of the Year and Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema took the Women’s Player of the Year prize for the second year in a row.
Abraham, in his first full season with Chelsea’s first team, has struck 15 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.
The Camberwell-born poacher also scored his first goal for England in a 7-0 rout of Montenegro in Euro 2020 qualifying in November.

The 22-year-old beat off competition from team-mate Jorginho and last year’s winner Son Heung-min to claim the main prize, while he edged out another fellow Blue, Mason Mount, to lift the junior award.
Abraham has been the stand-out performer for Chelsea in a campaign notable for the large number of young players integrated into the squad, with Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi also to the fore.
There were a number of other awards also issued throughout the night at the event, held at Camden’s Roundhouse.

Brentford attacker Ollie Watkins was recognised for his fine form with the EFL Player of the Year Award and his boss Thomas Frank took home the Manager of the Year award having guided The Bees up to fifth in the table.
There was also a gong for Les Ferdinand, recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to London Football honour.
The Palace For Life Foundation, Crystal Palace’s official charity, earned the Project of the Year award, while The FA For All Award went to the Middlesex FA.
