Chelsea seek Enzo Maresca as successor for Pochettino

Chelsea are keen on Enzo Maresca as they seek a successor to departed Muaricio Pochettino, according to Sky Sports.

Indeed, the broadcaster says the Blues ‘want to speak’ to the Italian, who led Leicester City back to the Premier League in his first season at the King Power Stadium.

However, as attention turns to the summer transfer window and fortifying a squad within the restrictions of the current Profitability & Sustainability Rules, Pochettino’s departure from Stamford Bridge has created ripples through coaching circles.

Chelsea and Brighton are both now looking for a new manager/head coach and almost immediately Maresca was installed as one of the front-runners among the odds-makers, along with Roberto De Zerbi and Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna.

Both Sky Sports and talkSPORT are reporting Chelsea’s interest in Maresca as fact, which will present the 44-year-old with a choice to make with two years left on his City deal.

Interestingly Fabrizio Romano addressed the former Man City coach’s situationon X, formerly known as Twitter, this morning, saying: “Enzo Maresca received approach by Sevilla in the recent weeks but he didn’t want to advance in talks. Maresca wants to focus on the Premier League, he wants to work in PL football and stay in England.” He added that Maresca has a £7-8million release clause.
