Chelsea to discuss Tuchel’s contract after UCL final

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a stunning turnaround in fortunes for a Chelsea side that languished in the tenth when he replaced the sacked club legend, Frank Lampard.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has guided Chelsea to two major cup finals, though the first ended in defeat after Leicester City beat the Blues 1-0 in the FA Cup final.

Tuchel will be desperate for better luck this time around, as he prepares to lead Chelsea out in the Estadio Dragao for a Champions League final against Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Those at the top of the Chelsea hierarchy are clearly overjoyed with the job Tuchel has done thus far, with recent reports claiming the Blues will trigger the option to extend the manager’s contract by another year.

The 47-year-old already boasts Champions League final experience from as recently as last year, where his Paris Saint-Germain side fell at the final hurdle against Bayern Munich.

This year’s showpiece event of European club football is set to be a fiercely contested affair, with Chelsea perhaps boasting the mental advantage after having the upper hand in the two previous meetings between Tuchel and Pep Guardiola.
