Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem had cause to sing victory song on Saturday as Leganes earned a lone goal victory over visiting Mallorca in the La Liga.
Awaziem was in action 31 minutes after stepping in as late substitute for Dimitrios Siovas in the 59th minute.
Thirty- first minute goal by Martin Braithwaite which turned out to be the only match of the game was all Leganes needed to seal victory.
Keneth Omeruo who was in action for 90 minutes in Leganes 2-0 loss away to Getafe a few days back was however not listed for in Saturday’s encounter.
It is the first win for the Luis Cembranos men who will next face Real Madrid in their next La liga fixture.
Leganes prior to Saturday’s match had lost to Levante and Granada respectively, conceding three goals and scoring one.
Despite their victory Leganes remain at the lower end of the La Liga table accumulating only five points in 10 games played in the new season so far.
Elsewhere in the English Championship, Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was not listed as Stoke City suffered a 2-0 defeat by Millwall.
