Christian Chukwu Biography Unveiled In Lagos

Biography of former Nigerian football legend, captain and coach, ‘Chairman’ Christian Chukwu has been unveiled in Lagos.

The book titled, ‘The Field Marshal – A Biography of an African Football Legend’ was unveiled on Wednesday in Lagos.

The book presentation had in attendance other Nigeria football heroes such as; Mathematical Segun Odegbami, Slyvanus Okpala, Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi etc.

The Labour Party Presidential candidate said “Christian Chukwu is truly a legendary figure in Nigerian football. He was a key player in the legendary “Green Eagles” team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980, and he went on to become one of the most successful coaches in Nigeria’s history. The title of his biography, “The Field Marshal,” is so fitting, as he was a true leader on and off the pitch.

“He captained Nigeria’s national team to its first win in the African Nations Cup. He also captained Rangers International of Enugu, one of the most successful football clubs in the country. His two popular nicknames ‘Chairman’ and ‘Field Marshal’ say it all about him.

“Celebrating past heroes like Christian Chukwu, and indeed other past heroes, who have made significant impacts in the country, remains a progressive culture that must be adopted by the government, at all levels, and indeed all Nigerians.”

Recall that Chukwu was a key player in the legendary “Green Eagles” team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980, and he went on to become one of the most successful coaches in Nigeria’s history.
