Conte hints at possible Eriksen return to Tottenham

Tottenham coach Antonio Conte was happy to hear that Christian Eriksen feels ready to play football again.

The 29-year-old Danish midfielder recently revealed his desire to feature in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar this year, itching to return following the tragic scenes witnessed during a Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland last year, where he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference earlier today, Conte discussed Eriksen’s condition and if a possible return to Tottenham is on the cards.

“I didn’t speak recently with Christian. For sure, it was great, it was fine, to see him on a pitch, to see that he is kicking a ball. We are talking about a really important player, but especially a top man.

“What happened this summer was very not good, not good, for the people that worked with him, and the people that know him.

“I was scared in that moment. And now, to see him again ready to play football is great news. I think for Christian, the door is always open.”

Eriksen was forced to leave Inter last month because Serie A rules would not allow him to play with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator device. As such, he has been training individually in a bid to keep up his fitness as he looks to return to action.

Denmark have already booked their spot at this year’s World Cup in Qatar and so the former Inter midfielder is looking to find a new club before then, where he can hopefully put himself in contention for a spot in the squad.
