Coronavirus: UEFA admit uncertainty over Euro 2020

UEFA have admitted they are in a state of limbo over Euro 2020 due to the growing fears surrounding coronavirus.

Euro 2020

Italy – the most-affected European country – is due to stage the opening match of the tournament with Turkey scheduled to take on the Italians in Rome.

But the virus is spreading across the continent and – with the tournament set to be hosted across several countries – there are heightened fears as to whether it will go ahead.

UEFA executive committee member Michelle Uva said: “We are at the waiting stage. We are monitoring country by country, and football must follow the orders of the individual countries.

“The sporting path will only be closed if the situation gets worse.”
