Reporting Sports in a refreshing style

CSED INITIATIVE TAKES PSHE TO EDO BOYS HIGH SCHOOL

 

CSED (Community Sport and Educational Development) Initiative took their sports for change PSHE school run to Edo boys High School (Benin City). The school which has a population of 1,300 (one thousand three hundred) students is currently one of the leading secondary schools in Nigeria that provides a balanced academic and sport curriculum to its students. Edo Boys High School is also currently the home of cricket development in Nigeria, as they have the best secondary school cricket ground in Nigeria and their students make up the majority of students that led Edo State to win the cricket gold medal at the last National Youth Games held in Ilorin.

During the event,CSED Trustee, Edema Fuludu presented 210 (two hundred and ten) general interest books meant for the school library to the school Principal, Mr Richard Igbinadolor. The school Games Masters Mr Osayuwa Osas Jerome and Mr Omoregie were among other teaching staff and students that warmly welcome CSED team. Some of the other items donated to the school are: eight badminton rackets, one badminton net, one set of badminton shuttlecock, four scrabble boards, four Chess boards and two handball balls.

In addition, CSED also donated one thousand copies of drug awareness brochures that they recently received from one of their supporters, Foundation for a Drug Free World. The flag of this generous American based NGO was openly displayed for the students to see.

Five, coaches from the Edo State Sports Commission also attended the event and taught some of the enthusiastic students the basic of the games of  badminton, chess, scrabble, handball martial arts (kung fu). This is the second time CSED is holding a sports/educational event at Edo Boys High School, which is one of the two Edusport Hubs in Edo State that CSED have identified and have a working relationship with. Edema Fuludu urged the students of the school to continue to work hard in the classroom and in their respective sports. The school Principal expressed his appreciation for the encouragement that the CSED Trustees have given to students of the school.

CSED is currently working on their goals of identifying and developing more Edusport Hubs in the Niger Delta area. Given that the year 2020 is a major sporting year, the Trustees of CSED intend to get more girls involved in sports through a “GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) approach” to grassroots sports development. As a result, providing girls access to sports like netball, table tennis, badminton and football would be their major target in 2020.
