Kevin de Bruyne says his already incredible assist numbers would go up even further if he could play with Cristiano Ronaldo.

De Bruyne says he could get even better playing with Ronaldo

Manchester City’s Belgian star has already laid on 16 goals for his teammates this season, as he has taken his game to a level that he sees as even more “complete” as he strives to improve.

In an interview with Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports’ ‘The Football Show’, it was put to the Belgian that he would thrive when paired in a fantasy midfield with the likes of Barcelona icons Andres Iniesta and Xavi, but he preferred to focus further forward.

Discussing potential strikers he’d love to play with, he said: “Maybe somebody like Thierry Henry, or even somebody like Cristiano.

“For me, a creative player, he’s going to be there.

“I’m somebody who’s quick, who can go deep, that helps me a lot.

“You can play with magnificent midfielders, but strikers, for what I do, are probably the main importance.

“So I would say maybe Cristiano, or Thierry Henry.”

He added that Ronaldo would be great for his assist record.

“I could probably put it [a cross] about three metres high and he’s still going to get it anyway!” he said. “So that’s going to make my assists go up!”

De Bruyne added that he feels he is currently on top form.

“It’s difficult to comment on form, but I’m the most complete player now,” he said.

“In every aspect of the game now I feel really comfortable. At Wolfsburg, I did incredibly well, but I was more up and down.

“But the past three seasons, maybe a little less last season, I’m happy as I’m playing at a constant level.

“From the first game against West Ham to the last against Real Madrid, I’ve played really well.

“That makes it satisfying that I can be consistently good at a good enough level to perform.”
