Spain No.1 De Gea, who signed a new contract with United last year until 2023, is relishing the prospect of spending the rest of his top-level career with the Reds.

Next season will be De Gea’s 10th at United, with the 29-year-old declaring it is a “dream” to play for the club and looking forward to building on his 394 appearances.

“I’m getting older,” joked De Gea, when asked how he felt about his 10 year anniversary at United approaching.

“Just to be part of this club is amazing, so imagine to be here for nearly 10 years. It’s like a dream.

“It’s great to play games with this club, so I hope I can be here for [many] more years.”

Reflecting on football’s enforced break due to the coronavirus, De Gea, speaking on a goalkeeper’s hangout on United’s official App, said: “It’s something special to always be at home.

“But I think now the most important thing is the health of the people, in Spain and here in England as well.

“So, while it’s a bit strange, but we need to keep doing some things at home, to keep training, to keep fit, for when we get back, but it’s a bit strange.

“My family is very good. At the moment, all my friends and family are all good, but there are a lot of people who are in a difficult situation with the virus and with everything.
