Del Piero on Woods: ‘I know the street well quiet and no skid marks’

Former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero said he ‘often’ travels on the road where Tiger Woods crashed in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The 15-time golf major champion had to be ‘extricated from the wreck’, according to BBC Sport and suffered serious leg injuries in a car crash yesterday.

The former Bianconeri hero lives in Los Angeles and explained to Sky Sport Italia that the road is usually very quiet.

“I know the street well because it’s an area where I often go to train with my son and our academy,” Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s just five minutes away. It’s a very residential area with very nice golf courses. At that time of the morning, there’s no one usually.

Although investigations are expected to be carried out or may have started to determine the cause of the crash, Del Piero did not rule out the possibility of the golf legend getting a split second sleep flash.

“They are very wide roads, easy to drive at that time of the morning. There are no skid marks. It’s bad to speculate, but he may have fallen asleep, you can’t tell.

“It must also be said that after the surgery he underwent more or less a month ago, he was subjected to many painkillers.

“I don’t know if this may have caused something more, there will be investigations that will tell.”
