Departing Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton will be assured of a No1 chance at Manchester United should he make the move.

Sky Sports sayst the former United academy goalkeeper wants to challenge David de Gea and Dean Henderson to become United number one.

Heaton has been at Aston Villa for the last two years, and is strongly linked with a return to United to boost a goalkeeping department that looks likely to lose Sergio Romero and Lee Grant at least this summer.

And if he signs, the report says he wants to be in contention to be United’s first choice goalkeeper, not just make up the numbers.
