Dividend of hard work: Inside Michael Jordan’s new £60million super yacht

 

Michael Jordan is perhaps one of the greatest athletes on the planet, and his achievements in the NBA  still remains mind blowing.

Jordan was at the heart of a rampant Chicago Bulls side that looked untouchable for the majority of the 1990s as they swept up six world titles.

And while the rest of the Bulls were untouchable, Jordan seemed to be another planet at times.

His fame has even hopped sports, with PSG wearing his Jordan line for their third kits.

And with all his fame and success, Jordan has picked up a pretty penny along the way  including his £60million superyacht,Joy.

“The 70-metre Joy is the first superyacht to feature an exterior design by Bannenberg & Rowell.

“The first Feadship with an interior by the architects at Studio Indigo.

“The result is an astonishing superyacht which truly meets the owner’s brief to ‘create something totally different to every other yacht’.

The vessel is 230 feet (70 meters) in length, and the outline is about 9.78 feet (3 meters).

The maximum speed that Joy can reach is about 16 knots, and the cruising rate is about 12 knots.

However, it’s not just the size and speed of the vessel that is so impressive, and the superyacht features a plethora of rooms ranging from a state of the art gym to a full-sized basketball court.

At 53-years-old it is clear Jordan is still keen to stay in shape

Joy also boasts eight cabins, all accessible by a lift.

All the cabins has been decorated with ocean mosaics with granite finishes, and each comes with its own en-suite and rain shower.

Up to 12 guests and a crew of 19 can be on board at one time.

The running costs for the yacht are estimated at around an eye-watering £600,000-per-week.

Jordan first purchased the vessel in 2019, for £60million, and he immediately celebrated by sailing to Joy to the Caribbean with some friends.

Alongside the gym and full-sized court, Joy also offers a full bar as well as a jacuzzi on deck.
