Drogba-Osimhen meeting fuels Chelsea transfer

Chelsea fans may be expecting positive news as it regards to Victor Osimhen’s possible move to the Stamford Bridge. Osimhen currently on national assignment where Super Eagles disarmed hosts Cote d Ivoire in their Second AFCON match, was seen with Ivorian and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, and the meeting has sparked frenzy among Blues fans who believe that it not only to give the Nigeria internaitonal a pat on the back for him impressive runs at the ongoing tournament and even for this Seria A club Napoli, but also to put in a word or two to have Osimhen at the Bridge.

The Super Eagles claimed  1-0 victory against the tournaments hosts but all the attention on social media was focused on the pre-match exchange.

The Stamford Bridge icon caught up with the reigning African Football of the Year, who has been linked with a move to club, in the tunnel before the second group stage match in Abidjan.

And Blues fans were united in the belief that their former striker was helping to broker a deal that could see him join Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

‘Yeah, Osimhen is joining Chelsea, I have a felling it’s happening in the summer.’ One fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Another said: ‘Telling to come to Chelsea. Super-agent Drogba.’ While a third pleaded: ‘Didier Drogba please convince him to Join Chelsea.’

The Nigeria star scored in his country’s opening fixture draw with Equatorial Guinea, before winning the penalty that decided their matchday two clash against the hosts.

Osimhen has been linked with a move to a raft of clubs in January – or more realistically – in the summer amid an increasingly strained relationship with Napoli, who have made a dismal Serie A title defence.

The striker extended his contract with the Neapolitan side last month which is believed to include a release clause to be in the region of €120-130 million (£104m-£113m).

Osimhen had in one occasion told his fans to keep their fingers crossed and see how things pan regarding to talks about his possible movement to Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester united respectively. The Eagles file out against Guinea-Bissau on Monday with intent to properly seal a place in the knockout stage of the 34th AFCON.
