D’Tigers crash out of Olympics pre-qualifying after Mali defeat

Nigeria men’s basketball national team, D’Tigers have crashed out of the 2024 Olympics qualifiers after their second defeat on Tuesday.

D’Tigers lost their first game in the FIBA Olympics pre-qualifying tournament, losing by 6pts to Senegal.

The Senegalese outscored and upset Nigeria in the topsy-turvy match at the Eko Convention Center in Lagos on Monday before Mali did same on Tuesday..

Nigeria lost the first game 93-87 to Senegal on Monday before losing to Mali on 68-77 points.

The Malians gave Nigeria a 24 to 7 points run in the fourth quarter to overturn D’Tigers ‘ points lead into the fourth quarter.

The defeat against Mali means Nigeria’s journey at the 2023 FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Lagos has come to an end while Senegal and Mali have qualified for the semi-finals

The FIBA Pre-Olympic tournament is a second chance for teams who missed out on the World Cup ticket to fight for the remaining available spots in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
