Durban to host COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship in March

Following the recent conclusion of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where Africa was represented by reigning champions Senegal and runners up Egypt, the COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship is set to make a return this year.

The COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship will be hosted in Durban, South Africa between 17 – 23 March where eight nations will compete for the regional title.

Senegal, who dethroned Mozambique as CAF Beach Soccer AFCON champions in 2022 were present in the last COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship as an invitational side along with Egypt.

For the 2024 edition, three invitational sides will make an appearance this year with North African nation, Morocco as well as 2021 CAF Beach Soccer AFCON silver-medalists Tanzania set to make their way to South Africa.

The zonal body of CAF also confirmed Saudi Arabia as a guest team, making the Middle East nation the first non-African nation to compete at the competition.

The other five nations that will make up the eight (8) participants are hosts South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Malawi (debutants), as well as FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025 hosts, Seychelles who are preparing to host Africa’s first-ever FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™.

Details of the official draw will be communicated in due course.
