Retired Germany keeper Oliver Kahn has maintained that the Super Eagles squad which won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and represented the country at its first ever FIFA World Cup  remains Nigeria’s best assembled national side till date.

Kahn who made his submission on Twitter while commenting on the FIFA World Cup in Russia which has seen some of the tournament favourites getting eliminated,  blasted the  African side for being too emotional.

The ex-keeper who was part of the Germany squad that reached the 2002 World Cup finals before losing to Brazil 2-0  did not spare his country for exiting the competition at the early stage which he blamed on poor team selection.

“Nigerians are full of emotions and they tend to overrate themselves. But they are not good enough to compete at this level with Argentina, Brazil, France and Croatia. They were too emotional against the Argentina, we all know they Argentine team are not stable and they weren’t playing as a team but against Nigeria they
believe its going be a normal stride in the park for them and they had their way.

“Individually they have a great selection of players playing across Europe and in Asia before they tend not to play as a team. Their U.S.A 1994 World Cup team are more united than any of their World Cup team in the past.

“And that’s of the issues we had with German team at this year’s World Cup, when you have the likes of Oezil Mesut and Gundogan Ilkay born in Turkey but migrated to Germany in a photograph with the Turkey President before the World Cup being played in Russia, its kind of sad because they were not emotionally stable for us at the World Cup,” he tweeted.
