Eagles’ scorecard: Osimhen resurrected, as Iheanacho, Onuachu continue to shine

Italia giants, Napoli are still celebrating the restoration scoring power of Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen who was on target on Sunday when the club subdued Bologna 2-1 in the Serie A.

The player who had been passing through turbulent waters positively made the headlines again to revive his dwindling career.

Osimhen completed the list of Nigerian players who brilliantly proved their worth across the world, scoring his first goal in four months for the troubled Napoli.

The Nigerian international doubled the Neapolitans lead in the second half after Lorenzo Insigne’s strike inside eight minutes.

Before Sunday’s clash, Osimhen’s last goal was also against Bologna back in November. The former Lille striker has struggled so far in his first season in Italy, but he now has three goals in 11 league games.

Meanwhile, Simy Nwankwo also scored a brace as Crotone secured their just fourth win of the season with a 4-2 victory over Torino.

Simy opened the scoring for Crotone from the penalty spot in the 27th minute before restoring Crotone’s lead in the 54th minute after Rolando Mandragora had drawn Torino level.

The 28-year-old now has ten goals in 24 league games in the Italian top-flight this season.

Osimhen and Simy were not the only Nigerian strikers that had their scoring boots on as Paul Onuachu also scored his 25th league goal of the season in Genk’s 2-0 win over Cercle Brugge,

Onuachu is Nigeria’s best striker in Europe this season, and he continued his run in front of goal by scoring Genk’s opener in the 9th minute.

The 26-year-old slotted home following a ball from Theo Bongonda before Junya Ito’s strike in the 24th minute sealed a comfortable win for Genk.

Leicester City claimed victory at Brighton despite having eight players missing through injury, and Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho inspired the team to attain a deserved victory.

The Nigeria international levelled matters for the Foxes in the 62nd minute – lifting the ball past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez – after receiving a pass from Youri Tielemans.

Meanwhile, in Spain, Sadiq Umar scored the only goal as Almeria continued their push for promotion into the Spanish top-flight with a 1-0 win at Girona.

Umar fired Almeria ahead in the 71st minute courtesy of an assist from Brian Rodriguez. It’s his 14th league goal in 25 matches this season.

In Sweden, former Golden Eaglets star Akinkunmi Amoo scored a worldie to help Hammarby beat AIK in the Sweden Cup.

The 18-year-old opened the scoring with a strike made out of Lionel Messi’s playbook. It’s Amoo’s fourth goal in the Sweden Cup.

Daniel Akpeyi gave an excellent display to help Kaizer Chiefs beat Petro de Luanda 2-0 at the FNB Stadium (Soccer City), Johannesburg, in matchday three of the CAF Champions League group stage.

Akpeyi had answers to every question the Angolan champions asked of him as he kept a clean sheet that powered Gavin Hunt’s men to their first win of the competition’s group stages.

Maduka Okoye was also brilliant in goal as Sparta Rotterdam picked up their first point in four games in the Eredivisie following a 1-1 draw against FC Emmen at the De Oude Meerdijk.

Although the result ended Sparta’s losing run, Okoye was disappointed not to have taken the three points on the night.
