El Geish vs El Makasa: Amunike ready for tough Cup tie

Former Barcelona winger, Emmanuel Amunike is set for his first Cup tie since he moved to Egypt when El Makasa play El Geish at the 20,000 capacity Fayoum Stadium.

The former Tanzania manager is yet to win his first match since he took charge of his new side, drawing against Smouha and El Entag El Harby as they struggle against relegation.

The Egyptian Cup might be El Makasa’s opportunity to gain silverware for the season and Amunike is hoping for a good Cup run as they face El Geish today.

Speaking with SportingLife.ng, Amunike said: “I’m happy with the progress of my team so far. In our previous matches, we were pegged back by late goals but the Cup presents us another opportunity to try again.

“However, we want to improve our defense, so we can keep things tight at the back and hopefully kill of matches when we are in the lead. I’m confident that this team will do well.”

El Makasa are currently placed 16th on the Egyptian league table with 14 points after 17 matches and will hope to improve when the second stanza commence.
