Former United ace Dimitar Berbatov is optimistic the Reds will garner positive results over the Christmas

Ralf Rangnick has already started to implement his style onto the Manchester United squad and with a favourable run of fixtures coming up, Dimitar Berbatov thinks it’s a good chance to build some momentum.

“United have the perfect run of games for the new manager, with the games they have coming up they can take control of things and take charge on the pitch,” Berbatov told Betfair.

“If the players and manager take this run of games seriously, and they know that if they can be consistent during this period then they can climb the table.”

Man United don’t play any of the traditional top six in any of their next 11 Premier League matches and Berbatov thinks it could be a good opportunity to establish some consistency.

“I don’t care how they get the wins, 1-0 is still three points, they have a job to do in these next six games, go out there and give the fans a good Christmas.

“The job of the manager during this time is enormous, he has to control things, change the team around and rotate so that he has fresh and happy players given the amount of matches.”

Ralf Rangnick won his first game against Crystal Palace before United were held to a 1-1 draw with Young Boys in the Champions League.

Berbatov has been impressed with what he’s seen so far, but insists that it is too early to judge the new manager just yet.

“Taking into consideration the circumstances, it’s been a good start for Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford. It was great to see a lot of young players represent the club in the Champions League.
