EPL: Everton boss Lampard working on how to strengthen the forward areas

Everton boss Frank Lampard has said they’re working on signing a striker to boost the attacking formation.

Lampard concedes there’s frustration with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury.

He said, “Firstly, we’ve got one of England’s main centre forwards in our squad who got injured three days before the Chelsea game.

“The club had to look at other areas in the team that we wanted to strengthen and it wasn’t just that. Nobody saw the Dominic injury coming. Salomon Rondon was suspended for the first game and is now available.

“We definitely want to strengthen in forward areas and we have to make sure it’s the right player at the right time to improve the squad. There’s a lot of clubs in similar situations and we are one of those.”

On facing Nottingham Forest tomorrow, Lampard added: “The mood in the camp is good, we should have more than zero points from the two games.

“Both could easily have been draws. we wanted more out of the two games but in terms of the performances, they’ve been pretty good.

“We’re in an early transitional period but the mood is good.”
