EPL: Jota was lucky not to be sent off for Liverpool – Moyes

West Ham boss, David Moyes, has revealed Diogo Jota was lucky not to be sent off for Liverpool in defeat at Anfield.

Sadio Mane scored the only goal in the first half as the Reds scrapped to a 1-0 Premier League victory at Anfield on Saturday evening.

West Ham lost Jarrod Bowen shortly after the interval when he was caught by a tackle from Andy Robertson.

Moyes, though, was more unhappy with the challenge from Liverpool substitute Jota in the 89th minute for which he was booked for cynically catching the back of Pablo Forlans’ right leg.

“I’ve not seen Andy Robertson one, but I’d like to see the Jota one again,” said Moyes. “The Jota one is the one you should look at, by all accounts.

“If it had been one of our players it would have been seen in a different light.

“There’s always a hard luck story here and it’s always somebody else’s fault when I’ve been here.

“But even the referee today I thought there were a lot of things that didn’t go our way that could easily have tipped in a different direction.

“But I accept it. I know what it’s like playing here and it’s really difficult.”
