He said: “I’m pleased. It’s a really difficult place to come to.

“I know they haven’t had the best time in terms of results recently but any game away from home is going to be difficult for us. I’m really pleased with how we started the game, it was a bit end to end but we looked a real threat and played some good stuff.

“We were aggressive in our pressing and didn’t want to sit off. I thought we were obviously clinical in our set pieces and we had a couple of good chances before we scored the two goals, we looked a real threat from set pieces, we work hard on those.

“To go 2-0 up was a bit of new territory for us at this level. They came into it and it was important for us to get in at 2-1.

“I thought we could regroup a little bit, we had to make a change that was enforced and showed a lot of character and spirit in the second half to defend, in the end, reasonably comfortably. I don’t think Thomas (Kaminski) had too many saves to make to be honest, there were a lot of balls coming into the box but we defended well.”

Edwards added: “We knew at that stage where the game was going to be. They had momentum and were chasing and we were hanging on to the victory.

“We almost accepted where the game was going to be in how we played but I felt we dealt with everything that was thrown at us. It was a really good day for us, I’m not going to get carried away, it’s one victory, it’s three points and we’ve got a really tough game again on Tuesday but we need to enjoy the wins when they come.”
