EPL: Thiago Silva ready to leave Chelsea

Thiago Silva wants to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

The Brazil defender, 38, has a deal to 2024 with the Blues, but he wants to break it next month.

Globoesporte says Thiago Silva wants to join good friend Marcelo at Fluminense and is in regular contact with their president Martin Bittencourt.

Bittencourt confirmed earlier this week they were in contact with the defender about a return home.

He said on the Cheguei podcast: “He never hid the desire to return, but he never said he would be back soon. He said he wanted to stay in Europe to play in the World Cup and he did.

“We said we would like him to come this year. And he was honest, that he would renew the contract until mid-2024. What can happen in the middle of the road, which depends much more on him than on us, which is what happened with Marcelo.

“He was already closed for the middle of the year, he called and said he would break the contract and came back.”
