EPL: VAR good for football, says Newcastle defender Dan Burn

Newcastle defender Dan Burn remains the number one supporter of VAR.

Burn believes VAR is “good for football” but admitted he was frustrated after the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace. Referee Michael Salisbury originally allowed a goal that would have secured all three points for the Magpies.

“Frustrated (about the VAR call),” Burn told NUFC TV.

“There’s a lot of talk about VAR whether it’s good for the game or bad for the game. The officials have been able to look at it numerous times and come up with that decision.

“It’s hard but you’ve got to come to terms with that decision. We’ll probably get a few our way this season, the chances are they’ll probably even out. As a whole, I do think VAR is good for football. It’s just (about) how many years it’s going to take us to accept the system.”
