Etebo doubtful for Stoke’s Clash against Millwall after muscular injury

Nigeria midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo suffered a muscular injury while in action for Stoke City in Wednesday’s Championship clash against Sheffield Wednesday which they lost by a lone goal at Hillsborough.

The Nigerian was at his best until the unfortunate incident in the 20th minute of play forcing the club to replace him with Mike Duffy.

The inability of the Nigerian to continue was a big loss for the Potters but to the advantage of the host side who struck before the interval through Massimo Luongo who capitalised on a mistake by substitute Liam Lindsay.

“We’ve had to re-adjust on two occasions because of a couple of changes through the injuries.

“Etebo is a muscular thing.

“Cameron (Carter-Vickers) is a bad gash along with his knee. That would have taken 20 minutes to stitch,” said the club’s manager, Nathan Jones.

It is doubtful if Etebo will be available for the Potter’s next clash against Millwall this weekend.

It should also be a concern for Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

The Potters remain second-from-bottom of the table with eight points.

Prior to the loss to Wednesday, Stoke had won back-to-back matches against Swansea City and Fulham, but could not follow those with another win in South Yorkshire.
