Chris Eubank Jr’s fight against Conor Benn has been pencilled in for October 8 at the O2 Arena in London.
Reports suggest the pair are set to carry on their dad’s legacies nearly 30 years on from when they contested one of the fiercest rivalries in British boxing history by fighting each other at the 20,000-seater arena in the south east of the city.
DAZN are set to show the fight as their first major boxing pay-per-view event, with the sons of Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn going head to head at a catchweight of 156lbs.
Some have claimed the fight is fully signed off, but welterweight star Benn Jr denied those claims, tweeting in response to one such report: ‘That isn’t the truth though, is it?’
The Brighton-based 32-year-old middleweight has never fought below 160lbs and has lost just twice in his 34-fight career, winning the other 32.
‘What fight fan wouldn’t want to see it?’ Eubank Jr said recently.
‘Two legends, their sons fighting each other, and they’re both doing big things in the boxing world.’
Benn Jnr meanwhile has secured five confidence-boosting wins over the last 18 months and is now undefeated in 21 fights.
Eddie Hearn had promised him a standout fight in the second half of this year but his promoter denied claim a deal to fight Eubank Jnr was close earlier this week.

Hearn said: ‘I’m not saying we wouldn’t take that fight. But it is not close or on the horizon.’
However, Nigel Benn appeared to hint the fight is on, tweeting on Thursday: ‘This is what Conor wants, this won’t ruin Conor he’s not made like that. Well let’s see how he does I’m backing him, win lose or draw my friend.
Eubank Snr beat Nigel Benn in a blockbuster WBO middleweight title fight in Birmingham in 1990, where the former beat Benn via a ninth-round knockout.
