Falcons to know AWCON foes on October 21
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will on October 21 know their group opponents for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of
Nations (AWCON) billed for Ghana from November 17 to December 1.
This was revealed by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) on its official website on Monday ahead of the draw scheduled for Accra, with eight teams split into two groups.
Algeria, Cameroon, Mali, Equatorial Guinea, Zambia, South Africa, and Nigeria will join host nation Ghana that will participate in the competition which will be staged in Accra and Cape Coast.
This year’s edition which will be the 11th will also serve as the qualifiers for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup which France will host next June. The top three teams will qualify.
Nigeria are the defending champions after their 1-0 defeat against Cameroon two years.

Ahead of this year’s edition, the Falcons who have won the trophy eight times qualified after eliminating Gambia over a two-legged encounter in June.
