Fans Claim Fikayo Tomori caged Man United’s Mason Greenwood

Fikayo Tomori produced a defensive masterclass for AC Milan to pocket Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood on Thursday.

The on-loan Chelsea defender has been in impressive form since he left for Italy in January, AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini personally calling him to set up the move.

Tomori showed fans that in the Europa League first leg at Old Trafford, which finished 1-1 with rising star Greenwood unable to get any joy out of his fellow England international, despite his very best efforts.

At one point, with the pacey Greenwood running at him full-pelt, Tomori shadowed him impressively then produced a perfectly-timed tackle to win the ball back inside the box.

Defending gets no classier. In fact, Maldini himself would be proud of such a composed challenge.

It was Tomori’s defensive partner, Simon Kjaer, who got a deserved, injury-time equaliser for the visitors, following Amad Diallo’s sublime backwards header just after half-time.

But Tomori stole the show with his defensive prowess, leaving Milan fans delighted with the loan hit and Chelsea fans demanding the club do all they can to bring the 23-year-old back to Stamford Bridge.

The exciting Greenwood, meanwhile, will probably be hoping he doesn’t have to come up against a defender with Tomori’s pace, timing and awareness again any time soon
