FIBA rankings: Nigeria’s D’Tigers drop 18 spots as D’Tigress soars
Nigeria’s D’Tigers dropped 18 spots in the latest rankings released by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
The country’s men basketball team are now ranked in 37th position in the latest ranking.
D’Tigers occupy fifth position in Africa following their slump in the ranking.
The slump was connected to the team’s poor showing in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers in Lagos.
South Sudan is the number one ranked country in Africa followed by Ivory Coast, Angola and Tunisia.
Completing the top 10 teams on the continent are, Egypt, Cape Verde, Senegal, Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Women’s Basketball team, D’Tigress, has climbed an impressive seven spots in the latest International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Women’s Rankings.
Interestingly, the rankings, released by FIBA on Wednesday night, reflect D’Tigress’ outstanding performance at the 2023 AfroBasket Championship.
