FIFA Beach Soccer: Portugal top after humiliating Sand Eagles 10-1

Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles on Friday lost its opening group D match of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup  to Portugal 10-1 at the Los Pynandi Stadium in Asuncion in Paraguay.

The Nigeria side led initially through veteran Azzez Abu in the first period but allowed their opponents recover on time to score five goals each in the second and third periods of the match.

Portugal are now leading the group with three points.

It was not the scoreline the Nigeria side expected, however they have another opportunity of redeeming their image when they face Oman in their next game on Sunday.
