FIFA Latest Ranking: Super Falcons drop three spots
Nigeria’s Super Falcons suffered a setback in the latest FIFA Women’s world ranking released on Friday, December 12.
The African Champions dropped three spots from 36 to 39 in the world, but remain Africa’s highest-ranked team and the only one in the World top 40.
Interestingly, since FIFA published the women’s ranking three months ago, Nigeria failed to win a game and could not qualify for next year’s Summer Olympics in Japan.
The Falcons were held in both legs of their third-round Olympic Games qualifiers by Ivory Coast, who were ranked 69th at the time, but have now moved six spots up by December.
Cameroon are Africa’s second-best side followed by South Africa, Ghana and Ivory Coast in the top five.
