Financial issues not stopping Tottenham signing 16-goal striker

Tottenham are still keen on signing Wolves star Raul Jimenez this summer, despite the current financial struggles hampering the club.

The 29-year-old is widely regarded as one of the strikers in the Premier League for his performances this season, with Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool all linked with a move for the Mexican.

Jimenez has been standout at Molineux since arriving at the club, initially on loan in 2018, and has scored 39 goals in 88 appearances for Wolves in all competitions.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is actively looking to bring in another top-quality forward, after finding the club severely hamstrung when Harry Kane and then Son Heung-Min suffered serious injuries within weeks of each other at the turn of the year.

And the Portuguese is said to be a massive fan of Jimenez, who has scored 16 goals and added nine assists this season, with Football Insider claiming that Spurs are prepared to finance a deal to bring the frontman to north London.

Mourinho was expected to bring in bargains in the form of loan deals and free transfers this summer, but it would appear that money has been available to make top quality additions to the squad.

That is despite Spurs recently having to take out a £175million Bank of England loan to help them survive the coronavirus crisis.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are ready to open the bidding for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after Southampton admitted they could sell the midfielder.

With his contract soon running into its final year, it’s now understood that Saints will sell the Denmark international this summer after blocking his sale in January.

The Daily Star reports that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is pondering an offer for the 24-year-old with Everton also believed to be interested in the enforcer.

The central midfielder was interesting Tottenham in January, and Sky Sports reported that Spurs had made the Southampton captain one of their top targets for the summer.

Saints are believed to have placed a £35million valuation on Hojbjerg in the winter, which put off Mourinho, but now the south-coast club are open to selling one of their star men.
