Flying Eagles subdue Olympic Hybrid in World Cup preparation

Flying Eagles stepped up their preparation for this month’s U20 World Cup in Argentina with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Olympic Hybrid FC of Abuja.

Ibrahim Mohammed ‘Beji’ broke the deadlock on the dot of half time, before substitutes Tochukwu Nadi and former Golden Eaglets winger Vincent Augustus added to the tally in the second period.

Coach Ladan Bosso lined up his strongest starting XI from the first whistle bar a few exceptions.

Goalkeeper Nathanial Nwosu returned from injury to start in goal ahead of Chijioke Aniagboso, who was No 1 at the U20 AFCON in Egypt.

Nwosu was not troubled by the blunt attack of the opposition, who battled to keep the scores respectable.

The four-man defence was the same that started against Senegal in Egypt with captain Daniel Bemeyi and Benjamin Frederick combining in the heart of the back four.

Daniel Daga showed he has fully recovered from a major knee injury that cut short his AFCON campaign as he anchored the defensive midfield role playing alongside the resurgent Samson Lawal and new boy Joshua John from Nasarawa United.
