Former Bristol City star Osagi Bascome stabbed to death

A footballer who played for English clubs was stabbed to death after a party in Bermuda.

Osagi Bascome, 23, was stabbed multiple times during a fight outside a restaurant on St David’s Island.

Bascome signed for Bristol City back in February 2017 as a teenager after impressing during a trial at the end of 2016.

He played for the under-23s for the rest of that season.

Bascome finished his English football career at National League North side Darlington, according to The Sun report.

He was capped 18 times for Bermuda often alongside current Bristol City striker Nakhi Wells, and scored one goal.

Police said the stabbing was not believed to be gang-related.

Det Ch Insp Peter Stableford spoke to the press outside the “Fun Zone” where the attack happened, urging witnesses to come forward.

“We need to hear from anyone who was at the party but right now persons who were there are not talking to us,” he said.

“We know that people saw what happened and we would urge them to do the right thing by Osagi and tell us.”

A police spokesperson in Bermuda said: “A police investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 23-year-old male, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an apparent stabbing incident.

“Officers were at King Edward Memorial Hospital in connection with another matter, when they were alerted to the victim who was brought into the Emergency Department in a non-responsive state, with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.

“The victim was transported to hospital via private vehicle. Details are at this time-limited.

“A scene has now been established in the area of Fun Zone, Wallers Point Road, St. Georges.”
