Former NFF President Dominic Oneya is dead

Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dominic Oneya, is dead.

Born on May 26, 1948, Oneya, who hailed from Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli, reportedly died on Thursday morning in his home at Effurun GRA in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Oneya was NFF boss from 1999 to 2002.

He served in various capacities in CAF committees and recently headed the Ministerial Committee on Reforms in Nigerian Football.

Oneya was from 1996 to 1998 military administrator of Kano State.

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has mourned the death of a former Military Administrator of the state, retired Brigadier-General Dominic Oneya.

The late army general was also the military administrator of Benue State during the reign of Abdulsalami Abubakar between 1998 and 1999.

Ortom in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, on Thursday described the death of General Oneya as a great loss to Nigeria and Benue State.

He said the footprints of the deceased as a one-time administrator of the state have remained indelible, particularly as one who handed over power to a democratically elected Governor in 1999.

Ortom sympathized with the Oneya family, the government, and the people of Delta State over the death of their illustrious son and prays God to grant his soul eternal rest.

Brigadier-General Dominic Oneya, was the Military Administrator of Benue State from August 1998 to May 1999.
