Galatasaray fan dies during Turkish Super Lig final game

Galatasaray are in mourning. Muharrem Gunay, a 35 year-old Galatasaray supporter, suffered a heart attack during the game against Yeni Malatayaspor and unfortunately, he died.

According to Turkish media outlet ‘Cumhuriyet’, the fan was with friends at his home to watch the final league game of the season as Galatasaray were fighting for the league title with Besiktas.

Gunay, in the second half, suddenly fell to the fllor. His friends called the emergency services, but the 35 year-old was unable to be saved.

“We’ve found out with great sadness about the news of the death of our fan Muharrem Gunay, who suffered a heart attack while he was watching the game between Galatasaray and Yeni Malayaspor. We ask for mercy from God and we send our condolences to his family and his relatives,” Galatasaray said in a statement.
