Turkey side Galatasaray have stepped up the chase for on-loan CSKA Moscow striker Ahmed Musa this summer, despite interest from newly-promoted Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Turkish media outlet Sabah claimed Galatasaray were in pole position to sign the Nigeria international and would need £3.1million to land the attacker on a season-long loan.

“Galatasaray want to sign a player who can be a back-up for Bafe Gomis as well as play in the other positions. Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa certainly fits the bill.”

“He’s likely to cost €3.5m [£3.1m] for a season-long loan deal. I can confirm that Galatasaray are currently leading the race to sign him,” Sabah said.

Musa was ostracised at Leicester earlier this season, and rejoined CSKA Moscow in January until the end of the season. He has rediscovered his shooting boots, with six goals in 10 Russian Premier League appearances.

It looks likely, then, that Musa will leave Leicester again this summer. But it remains to be seen who will land his signature, and whether a deal will be concluded permanently or just a loan.
