Gattuso ‘down to details’ for Olympique Lyonnais job

Gennaro Gattuso is on the verge of being appointed as the new coach of Olympique Lyonnais after Laurent Blanc was fired.

The Ligue 1 team had a dismal start to the season with just one point from four games, so Blanc was sacked today, leaving the club he had joined in October 2022.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more, Gattuso is in advanced negotiations with Lyon and only details away from agreeing a new contract.

He will be rushed right onto the bench, as Lyon’s next match is on Sunday against Le Havre.

The 45-year-old is a free agent after he was dismissed from Valencia in January 2023, lasting only 22 games in Spain.

Before that, he had worked as coach of Napoli, Milan, Pisa, OFI Crete, Palermo and Swiss team FC Sion.

It is believed that Gattuso would bring his traditional coaching staff with him to Olympique Lyonnais.
