Golovkin meets with IOC President to discuss organisational ties

President of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee, Gennady Golovkin, met with the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, at an official capacity in Lausanne, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The former boxing star was invited by the IOC to Switzerland, where he was congratulated by IOC President Bach on his recent appointment, who expressed his support to the leadership of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee.

NOC Kazakhstan met with the IOC staff to strengthen partnership and develop the Olympic movement in Kazakhstan. Golovkin expressed that NOC Kazakhstan remains a reliable partner of the IOC and will continue to support its initiatives, particularly those aimed at protecting athletes’ rights.

“On behalf of our team I would like to thank the International Olympic Organisation and personally President Thomas Bach for the invitation and warm reception. I am confident this visit will inaugurate strong and reliable cooperation between the organisations united with one goal,” Golovkin said.

Golovkin, an Olympic silver medalist, also left his mark at the Olympic House, signing the Olympian wall and was presented his OLY certificate by IOC President Bach.
