‘Half of Serie A wanted Amad Diallo’

President of Boca Barco, Enzo Guerri, has again spoken of Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo’s impact there as a junior player.

Amad joined Boca Barco as a 12-year-old and quickly made a big impression on the club, starring in matches against players two or three years older than him.

Guerri told the Telegraph: “Amad was always a phenomenon with the ball at his feet.

“He arrived in Italy in 2014 just over 12 years old, but he was also a phenomenon with children two or three years older.

“He started playing with our rookie team and as soon as they knew what kind of player he was, they started to come and see him.

“Juventus, Rome, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Bologna, Sassuolo, Empoli – all would have taken him with their eyes closed.

“I remember that when he went to Vinovo to do his first audition at Juventus they called me 15 minutes after training had started to tell me that they wanted him with them.”

Guerri added: “During his auditions at Atalanta they made him play against boys at least one year older.

“In fact, his first year at Atalanta he won the regional championship and was the top scorer in the category.

“At the end of the season he was added to the higher category and became champion of Italy by beating Roma in the final, 2-0 in extra-time, also thanks to his goals.”
