Henry predicts Arsenal Premier League features

Thierry Henry said Arsenal last five away games will decide whether they win or lose the Premier League title.

After 25 games, Arsenal sit third in the table, just two points behind leaders Liverpool and a point off Manchester City after they beat Brentford on Tuesday night.

Though not as highly favoured as their rivals there is hope that the Gunners can win their first league title for 20 years, especially now that they have the experience of last season’s title race.

That campaign fell apart thanks to a late collapse where they won just three of their final nine games, and just one of their last five away fixtures.

And Henry believes that the away games will once again define their season, though he has been encouraged by their recent form which has seen them score 21 goals in just five games.

‘Well when you are third you don’t feel comfortable, the only thing I will say, I wasn’t so much surprised about the result against Burnley – not having a go at Burnley, I was more surprised with the win at West Ham, especially the way they played,’ the Arsenal legend said on CBS.

‘They knocked us out in the Carabao Cup, they beat us at home, so I thought that was going to be a very difficult game and we went and won there 6-0 and you beat Burnley 5-0.

‘Where I’m kind of happy, I mentioned it before, the front three not scoring enough goals, and people jumped straight away on the bandwagon of saying they need a striker.

‘They needed to finish their opportunities, because they have so many opportunities, and I can show you games where they have way easier chances than the ones they scored recently.

‘But they didn’t put the ball into the back of the net, and when we are in a situation when we create chances and put the ball in the back of the net, even playing without Gabriel Jesus, we can be very difficult to beat.

The Gunners only have six away league games left, starting with what should be an easy win at Sheffield United on March 2.

However, after that they travel to Manchester City, Brighton, Wolves, Tottenham and Manchester United, and may well have to balance those tricky journeys with the Champions League.

The game at the Etihad on March 31 will be pivotal, as will City’s trip to Anfield on March 10, and Jamie Carragher believes that Arsenal and Liverpool must win these games to stand any chance of stopping City.

‘Manchester City are the best team and Liverpool have got big injury problems at the minute,’ the Reds legend said.

‘If Arsenal or Liverpool want to win the league you’ve got to go and beat City. Liverpool’s at Anfield, Arsenal are away at City so it will be a lot harder for Arsenal but that’s what they’ll have to do.’
