Here’s how much it cost to hire Ronaldo for a day

Have you ever wondered how much it would cost to hire Cristiano Ronaldo? Well, now you don’t have to wonder anymore.

That’s because in 2017, the Football Leaks book from by Der Spiegel journalists Rafael Buschmann and Michael Wulzinger, provided insight how much Ronaldo’s services cost.

We’re not talking about how much it costs to have him turn up and play for your Sunday League team like Kaka did back in February, this is about booking CR7 for half a day’s work.

And as a Saudi telecoms firm found out in 2013, Ronaldo costs an eye watering amount to hire.

The book reveals that Mobily struck a deal with Ronaldo’s Irish image rights company, Multisports & Image Management whereby they would get four-and-a-half hours of his time.

The service consisted of a photo-shoot, five signed shirts and two plugs across his social media channels, where the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has an enormous following.

The firm were allowed to use images of the former Real Madrid star that were taken on the day, but the advertising was only regional as the publication was limited to the Middle East and North Africa area.

For all of the above, Ronaldo and his representatives charged the company a monumental £920,000.

In new set of ‘Football Leaks’, once again published by Der Spiegel, it emerged Ronaldo signed a 10-year deal with the American sportswear giant Nike in 2016 and is entitled to collect a basic salary of €16.2 million (£14.8 million) per year “as long as he plays for a Category A club”.

Ronaldo also receives a €4 million bonus for any individual award he wins, such as the Ballon d’Or.

With his many endorsements and a handsome salary combined, the 35-year old topped the recent Forbes list of highest-paid footballers after being pipped by tennis legend Roger Federer in the overall rankings.

Ronaldo raked in $105 million in total – made up of $45 million from endorsements and a further $60 million from salary/winnings.
