How Juventus’ transfer strategies depend on Ronaldo’s future

Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential farewell could open up a string of operations for Juventus, from Dusan Vlahovic to Gabriel Jesus.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports the departure of the Portugal captain would allow the club to target some big names this summer, with Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann and Roma striker Edin Dzeko also mentioned as possible targets.

Fioretina youngster Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with a move to the Bianconeri in recent months, and Manchester City could let Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus move to the Old Lady too.

Juventus have clear ideas, but the transfer market is unpredictable and the newspaper believes it all depends on the future of Ronaldo.

The 36-year-old is currently busy with Portugal at the Euros, where the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star continues to break records.

Ronaldo has bagged five goals in the competition so far and has matched Iran legend Ali Daei’s all-time record of 109 international goals.

The newspaper believes returning coach Massimiliano Allegri wants a new centre-forward at the Allianz Stadium and has started looking at possible targets.

Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli has continued to impress with Italy during Euro 2020 and the Bianconeri are working to bring the former Milan youngster to Turin.

Allegri will reportedly sign a new striker even if Cristiano Ronaldo remains at the Old Lady, as he wants four attackers, including Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata.

However, everything will change should Ronaldo decide to leave the club and free up resources for the club to approach bigger names.

At that point, Dusan Vlahovic would be targeted by Juventus, whilst Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi continues to be linked with Allegri’s team.

Some names are out of reach should Ronaldo stay, but if the superstar moves, it opens up a string of possibilities, including Antoine Griezmann and Gabriel Jesus.

Allegri has asked Federico Cherubini for a new striker, and the sporting director, who replaced Fabio Paratici last month, has started searching.
