How Leicester City players celebrated FA Cup glory

Leicester City players had every reason to celebrate on Saturday evening – and they did not disappoint.

Brendan Rodgers’ men beat Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium as the Foxes won the competition for the first time in their history.

City had lost all four of their previous appearances in the final but that statistic can now be forgotten as the class of 2021 ensured their place in Leicester folklore.

Youri Tielemans scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute – his superb long-range strike worthy of winning any match.

And there were heroes all over the pitch for Leicester as they held off Thomas Tuchel’s Champions League finalists.

After negotiating a nervy finale, the players could finally enjoy the moment – first on the pitch at the trophy presentation and then back in the dressing room.

Some of them posted videos of the festivities on social media.

Wesley Fofana filmed his team-mates singing the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline, while Dennis Praet swigged from a bottle.

James Maddison’s video showed it from a different perspective as he belted out the chorus with Marc Albrighton and others.

Ayoze Perez captured footage of Leicester players including Tielemans, Ricardo Pereira, Hamza Choudhury and Papy Mendy dancing in the dressing room.

Perez later posted another video from on the team bus as the party continued. Maddison could be seen in his suit, with his winner’s medal around his neck.

Players also sent messages on social media to mark the occasion.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who made a couple of vital late saves to deny Chelsea, said on Twitter: “Dreamt of this moment as a boy. Dreams come true. So proud of this team. FA Cup winners 2021.”

Striker Jamie Vardy cheekily tweeted: “FA Cup…completed it mate!”

Perez, who got the nod to start ahead of Maddison, said: “Words can’t describe this feeling!

Maddison, who came on as a second-half substitute, added: “FA Cup Winners 2021. Dreams really do come true.”

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi had an extra special reason to celebrate.
